Synopsis

Kabuki-cho, the red light area of Shinjuku, is a forgotten world. A place where people of different tongues and races meet, where they fight against each other to gain money, power and territory. The struggle which never ends. Based on a dangerous love story which unfolds a dangerous town.

Liu Kenichi (Kaneshiro), a mixed-race, low-level crook, makes his living as a fence for stolen goods in Kabuki-cho. He is enveloped into a gangland dispute when an old friend, Fu-Chan, returns to town years after killing the partner of mob boss Yuan. At the same time, Fu-Chan’s girlfriend Natsumi reappears as well, with an offer for Kenichi he will find difficult to reject. Through its many twists and turns, Sleepless Town explores a criminal underworld where outlaws from all over Asia interact, creating unlawful alliances and initiating brutal turf wars.
